The Charter Project of Mendocino County is hosting a series of 9 Town Hall meetings around the county to introduce people to Charter Commission candidates for the June 7th election, and also to canvass the public about what they would like to see in a county charter.

What is a charter, anyway? What does home rule mean to Mendocino County? Get the answers at one of these Town Hall meetings.

The 9th Town Hall meeting will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 5:30pm to 8pm at the Long Valley Library Commons, 23925 Howard St. in Covelo.

The Measure W question will be in the ballot in the June election, "Shall a Charter Commission be elected to propose a Mendocino County Charter?"

There will also be candidates running for the post of Charter Commissioner. You will be able to vote for 15 of them in June.

Meet 2 Charter Commission candidates:

  • Robin Sunbeam, RN, MSN - Local School Nurse and also Disaster Action Team Nurse for the Mendocino division of the Red Cross having Robin Sunbeamserved in the Lake County Fires.  Robin passionatley strives to heal the world, tikkun olam, for the sake of her children and all people's children. The incursion of corporate power over our government is the main dysfunction at the root of nearly every injustice.  Heartless corporations seek to maximize their profits without regard to life. We need to change this paradigm to make the health and happiness of humans and other living creatures paramount. Government is not for profit. With the consent of the governed, governments are established to protect our safety and steward public property without regard to profit.  Robin believes that democracy begins at home on the local level, which is where we must begin to rescue the world from corporate madness.
